Future Plans

The Museum Society is keen to ensure that it moves forward into the 21st century, and believes that its next project should be to develop the full potential of the museum site, with its unique position next to the ancient ruins of the Castle.

The museum itself needs increased facilities if it is effectively to cater for today’s expectations. The development of the museum building to provide these requirements together with the castle site to create an attractive and vibrant visitor destination would be to the benefit of Saffron Walden and Uttlesford District as a whole.

While efforts currently must be to complete the development of the Heritage Quest Centre, forward planning is being undertaken. In due course it is expected that consultants will be appointed to carry out a Feasibility Study, to carry forward the initial discussions which have already taken place.
